Gov. Rick Scott on Thursday attended the official opening of the new headquarters of Earlenterprises, formerly Planet Hollywood International, to tout 90 jobs the Orlando-based company has created.
At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Scott said it was "a great day for Orlando." The company could have moved elsewhere when consolidating its restaurant chains, he said, but stayed partly because of the state and city's efforts to keep it.
Last year, the state and Orlando awarded incentives totaling $800,000 to Robert Earl's Orlando restaurant company to bring Buca di Beppo's headquarters to town. Earl's company acquired Buca di Beppo in 2008.
Planet Hollywood said when applying for the incentives that the jobs would carry an average annual salary of $64,580 and benefits worth $24,000.
The move has been completed and Earlenterprises has created 90 new jobs, company spokeswoman Juliana Cadiz said. About half resulted from the move, and the rest were new positions created across the company.
Cadiz said she did not know how many people in all work in the new headquarters on Millenia Boulevard. In 2011, the company had 746 Central Florida employees, including workers at restaurants.
The company had originally planned to move into a building on Vineland Road, but those plans fell through.
The company also owns Earl of Sandwich restaurants. It named new chief executive officers for Earl of Sandwich and Buca di Beppo last year.
